Being located on Ramachandira Road in R. S. Puram means we are right in the thick of things. Coimbatore Cloth Mills Ltd. has been part of this neighborhood for as long as I can remember. The building is old, with high ceilings and those big fans that never seem to go fast enough in the summer. We have a lot of history in these walls. It’s a large operation, but it still feels like a local spot because everyone knows the gatekeepers and the floor managers. We produce quite a bit of fabric every week. The noise from the machines can be a bit much if you aren't used to it, but for us, it’s just the sound of a workday. We have stacks of cotton sitting in the corners and the smell of the loom oil is everywhere. It’s not the cleanest place in town, but we’re a working mill, not a showroom. We deal with all sorts of people, from big buyers to local tailors who just need a few meters. Sometimes the power goes out and we all have to sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. Those are the times we actually get to talk to each other properly. At Coimbatore Cloth Mills Ltd., we just keep our heads down and get the orders out. It’s what we know how to do best, and we don't plan on changing much about how the day goes.
