V. K. Engineering & Company

Our workshop, V. K. Engineering & Company, is located at No.39 in the Angammal Layout. It’s a quiet enough spot in Neelikonam Palayam, right near the Om Sakthi Kovil. You can usually hear the bells from the temple while we’re working on the machines. We’ve got a small team here that knows their way around a lathe and a welding torch. It’s dirty work most days, but it's what we know. We started out small and stayed that way because it's easier to manage things ourselves. When you walk into the shop, you’ll see parts scattered around and the smell of oil is pretty much everywhere. We don’t have a big front office or anything like that. If you need someone, you usually have to find us out back by the work benches. We spend most of our time fixing things or making parts for local folks who need them. The Angammal Layout has changed a bit over the years, but our spot stays the same. We take our lunch breaks together and talk about whatever is going on in the neighborhood. It isn't a high-tech facility with shiny floors, just a regular engineering shop where we put in our hours. We try to get things done right so people don't have to come back twice. That’s just the way we like to do things here in Neelikonam Palayam. Most days we are just busy with the metal and the grease.
