V. G. K. Foundry

V. G. K. Foundry is situated on V.K. Road in B.R. Puram, over in Peelamedu. It’s a neighborhood where people know each other, and we’ve been part of it for a long time. Running a foundry is hard, hot work, and our place shows that. It’s not somewhere you’d go in a nice suit because you’d probably leave with some soot on you. We spend our time working with the molds and the metal, making sure everything is poured right. It’s a traditional way of working, and we haven't changed much over the years because the old ways still work for us. We aren't interested in being some high-tech corporation; we just like the honest work of making things with our hands. Sometimes the pours don't go exactly right, and we have to start over, which is just part of the job. The guys here are local and we all just get along and get the work finished. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters. We just put our name on the gate and wait for the orders to come in. It’s a simple life, really, just focused on the heat of the furnace and getting the day's tasks done before we head home. We’ve been on this road for decades and plan to stay here for a while yet. There is always something more to do.
