You can find us at 23/10 Sri Devi Nagar in Kavundampalayam. We are mostly surrounded by other small workshops and houses. We work with steel here, so there is always a lot of heavy lifting. The sound of steel pipes and sheets clanging against each other is basically the soundtrack to our day. We have a big open space where we keep the stock. It can get pretty dusty, and the floor is usually covered in little bits of metal shavings. We have a few guys who have been with us for years and they know exactly where everything is kept. It’s a straightforward business. People come in needing specific lengths of steel, and we get it ready for them. We don't do a lot of talking unless it's about the work at hand. Sometimes the rain makes it hard to move the heavy stuff around without getting everything muddy. We have a small corner with a table where we handle the bills and sit down for lunch. Kavundampalayam has grown a lot since we first opened, but we’ve stayed in the same spot. We don't have a big sign out front, just the steel stacked up so you can see what we do. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. We don't try to make it sound like more than it is. It's just steel and hard work every single day. We enjoy the routine of the shop.
