Sri Varahiamman Steels Limited

Our steel yard is located at No. 19/ 1 Mgc Palayam in Ganeshapuram. To get here, you usually come via S. S. Kulam. It is a big open space because steel takes up a lot of room. We have all sorts of metal bars, sheets, and rods piled up. The work is loud and physically demanding. There is always the sound of metal clanging together. We spend our days loading up trucks and checking orders against our lists. The sun can be really strong out here in the yard, making the steel hot to touch. We have a small shed where we keep the paperwork. It’s a very basic operation. We don’t have a marketing team or anything like that. Most of our work comes from people in the construction trade who know we are here. The staff here is used to the heavy lifting. We wear thick gloves and heavy boots all day long. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in traffic on the way to Ganeshapuram, which slows things down, but we just deal with it. It’s a steady kind of life. We like the honesty of working with raw materials. There’s no pretense here. Just a lot of steel and a lot of work to move it. We’ve been part of this area for a while and plan to stay for much longer.
