Universal Fabrications

Universal Fabrications sits out on Athipalyam Road, specifically at Sf No:35/14 in Chinnavedampatti. It’s a bit further out than some of the downtown shops, so we have a bit more space to breathe, though the road can get dusty when the trucks go by. The workshop is a big open space because fabrication needs room for the metal and the machines. We don’t have any fancy air conditioning in the back where the work happens. You’ll mostly hear the sound of grinders or the clank of steel being moved around. It’s hard work, and our hands usually show it by the end of the shift. Chinnavedampatti has grown a lot, but this area still feels a bit more rugged. We don’t have a receptionist sitting at a front desk. If you come by, you’ll probably just see one of us covered in grease or holding a welding mask. We keep the ledger in a small wooden desk near the entrance. Most of our days are spent cutting, bending, and joining things together. It’s a simple life. The sun hits the metal roof pretty hard in the afternoon, making it warm, but we just keep the big doors open for a breeze. It’s a practical setup for the kind of stuff we build. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we absolutely have to. The metal gets hot if it sits in the sun by the door. We just use thick gloves and keep moving through our work.
