Udhayam Fashions

Udhayam Fashions is located at 105 on Light House Road. It’s a busy street, and we are right in the middle of all the action. Inside, you can always hear the clicking of sewing machines and the sound of scissors cutting through fabric. We have rolls of cloth leaned up against every available wall. The place is a bit of a maze with all the racks and workstations. There are threads of every color imaginable scattered on the floor. We spend our mornings checking the stitching and making sure the sizes are right. It’s not a quiet office; someone is always shouting for more buttons or a different color of thread. We have a small table in the back where we do the packing. The light comes in through the front windows, but we have big overhead lights to see the fine work. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to wait a bit, which gives everyone a chance to step outside for some air. Light House Road is always full of people, so there is plenty to see. We just keep our heads down and focus on the garments. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but seeing a finished piece of clothing makes it feel like we actually did something productive. We aren't a big factory, just a local place doing our daily sewing work.
