Being in Tirupur means you’re always around fabric and sewing machines. We are located at No. 57 Voc Nagar. It’s a loud area because everyone is making something different. At Scm Exports, we mostly focus on getting goods ready for shipping out. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space with enough room for the tables and the stacks of cloth. We’ve been here long enough that the walls could use a new coat of paint, but we'd rather just keep working. It gets noisy when the machines are all going at once. We don't really have a vision or anything like that; we just want to get the orders filled so we can go home to our families. Some of us have worked together for ten years or more. We know each other’s kids and what everyone likes for lunch. The work is steady, which is what matters to us. We deal with a lot of different fabrics. Sometimes the colors aren't exactly what we expected, so we have to sort that out. It’s just part of the daily grind in Voc Nagar. You won't find us in suits or anything. We wear what’s comfortable because the warehouse gets very warm in the summer. We just try to stay honest and get the boxes packed. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we’re used to the pace by now. We don't need a lot of praise, just a job done well enough for the next day.
