Austin Apparels is tucked away at 1 Karattangadu, Thillainagar 2nd Street, in the K. N. P. Colony area of Tiruppur. This whole neighborhood is known for garment work, so we fit right in with the surrounding units. Our street is narrow and can get pretty blocked up when a delivery van is trying to get through. Inside the building, we have the usual setup of cutting tables and industrial sewing machines. There’s always a pile of cotton fabric somewhere that needs to be sorted. Tiruppur is a busy place, and we definitely feel that pressure here every single day. The heat from the irons and the machines makes the workspace quite warm, so the ceiling fans are always spinning at top speed. We don't have any polished showroom; it’s just a production floor where the real work happens. Most of our staff are from the local colony and they’ve been in the trade for a long time. We deal with the usual daily problems like power cuts or late fabric arrivals, but we just manage somehow. It’s a very practical way of living, focused on the garment orders that come across our desks. There’s no corporate talk here, just the sound of needles hitting fabric and people shouting over the noise to get things done. It’s an honest, busy life in the heart of the textile hub.
