Tirupathi Chain & Hardware

People usually find us tucked away in the Planiappan Arukkaniammal Complex on Park Street. It’s a busy spot here in Katoor. Our place is number 110, and it’s filled with chains and all kinds of hardware. Most days start early when the shutters go up. There’s always dust on the shelves no matter how much we clean, but that’s just how it is with metal goods. We’ve got heavy chains piled up and bins of bolts. It’s noisy outside with the traffic, and sometimes the complex gets a bit crowded with people moving stuff in and out. We spend a lot of time measuring things out or looking for that one specific size someone needs. It isn’t a fancy office. There are stools to sit on and a desk that’s seen better days. The walls are lined with tools. We know the other shop owners around here pretty well. It’s a lot of manual work, moving heavy items and making sure everything is counted right. When the sun hits the street, the shop gets warm. We just keep at it, helping whoever walks through the door with whatever project they’re working on. It’s straightforward work. We don’t have much room to move around when a big shipment comes in. You just get used to the smell of grease and iron. It’s been our routine for a long time now, and we just keep the doors open and the stock ready for the next person who stops by.
