At Jk Apparels, we work out of No. 1A in Gk Garden, which is over in the Samundipuram South area near Gandhi Nagar Post. It is a fairly quiet part of town compared to the main market. Our building is a simple one-story structure with a small yard in the front where we sometimes park the bikes. Inside, it is all business. We have tables set up for cutting and piles of finished pieces waiting to be packed. I usually handle the packing myself while the others are on the machines. The floor is concrete and stays cool, which is nice in the summer. We have a small radio that plays the local station to keep us company while we work. It is not a fancy showroom. It is more of a workshop where things actually get made. We have been at this location for about four years now. The neighborhood knows us as the place that stays late when there is a big order. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, which is frustrating but that is just how it is. We do not have a big sign outside, just a small one near the gate. It is a humble operation and we like it that way. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day. It keeps the bills paid and keeps us occupied from Monday to Saturday.
