The Citizen Knit Wears

We are located over at No. 273 Bala Ji Garden in the Kuppandampalayam area. If you know Veerapandi Pirivu, you know it’s a place where everyone is doing something with textiles. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space where we keep the knitting machines. The floors are concrete and they usually have a layer of lint on them by the end of the shift. We spend our days watching the yarn go into the machines and making sure nothing gets tangled or breaks. It’s repetitive work, but we’re used to it. The noise of the machinery is something you just stop hearing after an hour. We have a small office area, but mostly we are out on the floor. The sun comes in through the high windows and it gets pretty warm around midday. We usually bring our own tiffins for lunch and sit outside in the shade if there’s a breeze. It’s a lot of hard work, especially when we have a deadline and the trucks are waiting at the gate. We don't really do much advertising because we're usually busy enough with the work we have. We just keep our heads down and keep the machines running. It’s a simple way of working, and it’s what we know how to do best. We've been here for a good while and the daily routine works for us and the crew.
