We’ve been working out of this spot in Anthiyur Pulankinar for a while now. It’s located right near Udumalpet. Most people around here know the Sri Venkatalakshmi Spinners name, and we are part of that setup. Our daily life involves a lot of fabric and machinery. The place is out in the Coimbatore district, tucked away in the Tiruppur side of things. It gets quite busy with the trucks coming in and out. Most of the folks working here have been around for years, so we all know how the machines sound when they are running right. There isn't much fancy stuff going on, just a lot of yarn and fabric work every single day. We keep the gates open early and the noise of the spinning usually starts before the sun is fully up. It’s a dusty kind of job sometimes, but that is just how the textile business is in this part of Tamil Nadu. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but we get back to it soon enough. If you are driving down the road towards Pulankinar post, you will see our building. It is a big place with a lot of history in these walls. We just focus on getting the fabrics done and moving them out to where they need to go next. It’s simple work but it keeps everyone here quite busy.
