Sv Knits

You can find us over at SF No. 3/466-A in Pullavan Thottam. It’s out in the Murugampalayam area of Iduvampalayam. Being a bit away from the main city center means it’s a bit quieter, but the roads aren't always great, especially when it rains and things get muddy. We’ve got a fair amount of space here, which is good because the knitting machines take up a lot of room. There’s always the sound of the needles clicking away. We get our yarn delivered in big sacks, and sometimes they’re just piled up in the entryway until we can find a spot for them. The roof is made of sheets that get really loud when it rains, so we have to shout to be heard. It’s a practical setup. We have a few fans going to keep the air moving, but it still gets warm when all the machines are running at once. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We usually have a lunch break all together, sitting on the benches outside if the weather is nice. We aren't doing anything fancy, just keeping the machines running and making sure the knitwear comes out the way it’s supposed to. Some days are smoother than others, but we just take it as it comes. There’s always more yarn to process and more boxes to pack up.
