Susi Garments

Susi Garments is located at No. 36 R. K Mill Road. We’re in the Peelamedu Pudhur area. It’s a decent place to be. The road stays pretty busy with people going back and forth all day long. Our building is a simple one, nothing that stands out if you were just driving by. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of iron and thread. We don’t have much in the way of decoration. We’ve got some old chairs in the corner and a big table where we check all the pieces before they go out. Working at Peelamedu means we’re close to a lot of other small businesses. Sometimes we talk to the neighbors about the weather or how the local roads are being fixed. Most of our staff have been coming here for years. We know each other's families and what’s going on in the neighborhood. It’s not a corporate environment where people use big words. We just talk about the fabric or if a machine needs a new belt. When the rainy season hits, the sound on the roof of No. 36 is so loud we can hardly hear each other. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. By the end of the day, we’re tired and ready to head back home. It’s just a regular job at a regular place on R. K Mill Road. Most of us take the bus or walk to No. 36, and we've done it so many times we could do it with our eyes shut.
