Suti Apparels

You can find us over at No. 8/43a M. G. R. Nagar in Kalickanaickan Palayam, which is near Sundapalayam. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say the address, but it’s a quiet enough area compared to the city center. Suti Apparels is where we do all our stitching and finishing work. It’s not a huge factory, just a decent-sized space where a few of us work together. We have rows of sewing machines and a couple of big cutting tables that take up most of the room. The walls are painted a simple white, though they’re getting a bit scuffed now. We get the fabric in big rolls and then it’s just a process of measuring and cutting all day long. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to take a break, sitting outside under the shade of the trees until it comes back on. We don’t have a fancy website or a bunch of salespeople. Most of our work comes from people who know us in the local area or through word of mouth. We focus on making sure the seams are tight and the buttons don’t fall off. It’s just a regular day of work for us, starting at nine and finishing up when the light goes. We like the rhythm of it, the sound of the needles and the clatter of the scissors on the table, it makes the day go by fast.
