Srp Fashions sits right on the Tiruppur Main Road, over in the Avinashi area near Avinashilingam. If you’ve ever been to this part of the country, you know how busy the roads get with all the textile trucks and workers. Our place is usually filled with the sound of sewing machines going all day long. There are stacks of fabric in almost every corner, mostly cottons and blends waiting to be cut and stitched up. It’s not very quiet here, but the noise of the machines is a good sign that things are moving along. The building itself is pretty basic, just a standard workplace where we get the job done. We don’t spend much on decorations or fancy furniture because the work is on the tables. Most of the people working here have been in the garment trade for years, so they know the feel of a good seam. We deal with piles of thread and buttons every morning. In the afternoons, someone usually goes out to get tea for the crew from the shop down the road. It helps everyone stay awake during the long shifts. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches. We just handle the orders as they come and try to keep the shipping dates on track. The walls have some old calendars on them and the floors get swept twice a day to keep the lint down.
