Sri Manikandan Fabrication

You can find us over on Nava India Road in Avarampalayam, not too far from SNR College. It is a lively part of town because of all the students walking around, but our shop is more about the grit and metal. We have this small space at No. 162/6 where we do all our welding and cutting. The floor is concrete and usually covered in metal shavings and bits of wire. We do not have air conditioning or anything like that, just a couple of wall fans that struggle against the heat of the torches. Most days are spent working on gates or small repairs for people who live nearby. We get a lot of walk-ins because we are right on the main road. The noise from the traffic is constant, and sometimes the dust from the road blows right into the shop. We have got old shelves filled with rusted bits of hardware and cans of paint that we use for finishing the metal. It is a simple setup. My clothes are always dirty by the end of the shift, and my boots are worn out from standing on the hard floor all day. We are not trying to be anything special, just a local fabrication shop doing what we know how to do. When the college lets out, the street gets really packed, and that is usually when we start thinking about finishing up for the day and cleaning the tools.
