Out here at Arasur Post, things are a bit more spread out. Coimbatore Polytext Pvt. Ltd. sits on a decent bit of land, which is good because we need the space for the raw materials. We work mostly with synthetic fibers and polymers. It’s different from the traditional cotton mills you see in the city center. The processes involve more heat and different kinds of machinery. I started working here right after school and now I help manage the floor. It’s a lot of watching gauges and making sure the lines don't get clogged up. We have a small canteen where everyone eats lunch together. The food is okay, mostly just what the local ladies bring in. We don’t have a big fancy sign outside, just the name on the gate. Sometimes it gets lonely out here away from the city, but the commute is easier. We have a few trucks that come by every evening to pick up what we’ve made during the shift. It’s hard work and the floor gets hot, but it’s a steady living for everyone in the village nearby. We don’t do much advertising; people usually find us through word of mouth or old contacts. Coimbatore Polytext Pvt. Ltd. is just a place where we show up, do the shift, and go home to our families. It works for us and keeps everyone busy enough to stay out of trouble.
