Skm Engineering Works

Skm Engineering Works is situated at 245 in Kallapalayam, right near the temple. You can usually hear the sound of the machines long before you see the gate. It is a dusty area, and we have got a lot of heavy equipment sitting around the yard. We have been doing this kind of work in Kallapalayam for a long time. The shop is basically a large shed where we cut, weld, and grind. It is hot work, especially in the summer months. Being near the temple means there is always a bit of activity on the street. We do not have an office staff; usually, if the phone rings, one of us has to wipe our hands and go answer it. The floor is covered in metal shavings and oil, which is just how an engineering place should look. We take on jobs from the local farms and other businesses around here. Sometimes it is a small repair, other times it is a big piece of fabrication. We do not have a catalog or anything. People just bring us a drawing or a broken part and we figure it out. It is honest work. We start early in the morning when it is still cool and keep going until the light fades. There is a lot of pride in making something solid that lasts. It is just a simple workshop run by people who like working with their hands.
