Sk Fettling

Working at Sk Fettling means you’re going to get your hands dirty. We are located at 79, Sathyamangalam, right on the Mettupalayam Main Road. It’s a loud place because of the grinding and the metal work we do all day. Fettling isn’t easy work, and it’s definitely not for everyone. You’ve got to be okay with the heat and the constant sound of tools hitting iron. We don’t have an office with air conditioning or soft chairs. Mostly, we are out on the floor, working on the castings that come in from the local foundries. Each piece needs a bit of care to get the rough edges off. Some days we have a mountain of work to get through and the guys stay late to finish it all. The main road is always busy, so we hear the trucks going by all day long. It helps us feel connected to the rest of the town, I guess. We keep things pretty simple here. There aren't any fancy slogans on the walls, just the tools we need and the safety gear we wear. We’ve had some of the same people working here for years. We know each other's ways and how to get the job done without a lot of talking. It’s practical work. We take the rough parts and make them smooth. That’s about all there is to it. No more and no less.
