Shree Sakthi Steels

The sun gets pretty hot out here on the bypass road at Rs No.279/2A. Shree Sakthi Steels is right in the middle of it all in Veerappan Palayam. We spend most of our mornings watching the trucks go by and waiting for the next load of steel to arrive. It’s a heavy job, mostly just moving things from one side of the yard to the other and making sure the counts are right. We don't have a big fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just the office and the stacks of metal. Sometimes the dust from the road gets everywhere, so we spend a lot of time just wiping things down. Most of the guys working here have been around for years, so we all know the routine by heart. We don’t really bother with big speeches or trying to look bigger than we are. People just pull up in their vehicles, tell us what they need for their building or project, and we load it up. It’s straightforward work. The tea stall down the road is where we usually take our breaks. It gets loud with the traffic, but you get used to it after a week or two. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily orders as they come in. There’s always something that needs moving or a stack that needs organizing before the day ends.
