Scholar Knit Fashions

Scholar Knit Fashions is located over in Arulpuram, right on the road near the college park. We’ve got two units, A and B, in the Sri Lakshmi Nagar area, so there’s usually plenty of space for the fabric rolls. It’s a dusty area sometimes with all the construction going on nearby. We handle a lot of knitwear, mostly just standard stuff that people wear every day. The machines are old but they still work fine as long as we keep them oiled. Most of the folks working here live close by in Karaipudhur, so we all walk or take the bus. It gets quite cramped when we have a big batch of shirts to finish. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the address on the gate. The sun hits the front of the building pretty hard in the afternoon, so we keep the fans running all day long. Usually, we're busy sorting through different colors of yarn or checking the seams. It’s not a complicated business, just a lot of repetitive work and making sure the sizes are right. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the floor gets covered in scraps and thread. It’s a honest day's work for everyone here. We've been in this spot for a good bit of time now and everyone knows where we are.
