At No.7 3Rd Street Extension in O. R. K Puram, you’ll find Sara Apparels. We are a small clothing unit that’s been operating in this neighborhood for a good while. The shop isn’t much to look at from the outside, but we have a lot going on inside. There are sewing machines running most of the day and stacks of fabric waiting to be cut. We focus on making clothes that people can actually wear every day. It's not high fashion, just practical garments. Being in O. R. K Puram is nice because it’s a friendly area where everyone knows each other. We have a few local ladies who work with us, and we’ve become a bit of a work family. We don’t have a fancy catalog or a big marketing budget. Usually, people find out about us through word of mouth. If someone likes a shirt we made, they tell their cousin, and that’s how we get our orders. The workspace is often a bit cramped because we try to fit a lot into a small area, but we make it work. We don’t use any corporate talk here. We just talk about thread counts, hemlines, and delivery dates. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We’re just glad to be a part of the local community here on 3Rd Street Extension. Some days are loud with the machines, but it’s a good kind of busy.
