Sabari Engineering Works

You can find Sabari Engineering Works over at 35-E in Annai Sathya Nagar, which is part of the Ganapathy area. It’s a busy little corner of the world. We have been working out of this shop for a long time. The sound of lathes and welding is just part of the background noise here. We mostly do repair work and small-scale manufacturing for people who walk in. The floor is concrete and usually has some grease stains, but that's what happens when you work with machines. We don't have a receptionist; if you come in, you just talk to whoever isn't holding a tool at that moment. Sometimes the air gets a bit thick with the smell of cut metal and oil. We keep the doors open to get a bit of a breeze, which helps when the afternoon heat kicks in. Ganapathy is a good place for a workshop like ours because there are plenty of other tradesmen around. We often borrow a tool or a bit of material from the shop next door and they do the same with us. It’s a community of makers and fixers. We don’t bother with fancy talk or big promises. We just look at what needs fixing and we try to do it right the first time. It is a simple life but it keeps us fed.
