S. M International

S. M International is out in Nethaji Apparel at Ethiveerampalayam P. O. in New Tirupur. It is a bit further out from the main city hub, which makes it a little quieter, though the garment work is still heavy. We have a large space where we handle different stages of apparel production. The air is often filled with the sound of heavy machinery and the smell of new fabric. We spend our mornings checking the schedules and making sure the workers have what they need for the day's tasks. It is a practical environment with concrete floors and high ceilings to keep the heat away. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just some calendars and safety notices. Being in Ethiveerampalayam means we have a bit more space to move the big rolls of cloth around. Sometimes the delivery vans get lost trying to find us the first time, but once they know the way, it’s fine. We have our tea breaks under the shade outside when it gets too stuffy indoors. It isn't a glamorous job, just a lot of repetitive work to get the garments ready for shipping. We focus on the daily count and making sure the boxes are labeled correctly. We’ve been part of the New Tirupur scene for a while now and just keep doing our bit every day.
