Shree Maa Apparel

Our place, Shree Maa Apparel, is tucked away at No. 48A in M.G.R. Layout. If you know where Shanthi Theatre is on P.N. Road, we are just around the back side of it on 5th Street. It’s a bit of a hidden spot if you don’t know the area well, but it’s a good place to work. We’ve been here for a while now. It’s mostly just sewing machines and stacks of fabric inside our workspace. We don’t have a fancy showroom with glass windows or anything like that. People who come here are usually looking for us specifically. We keep things pretty simple. The staff is mostly local folks who walk or bike to work every day. We have a routine where we start around nine and go until the work is finished. It’s not a high-stress corporate environment at all. We talk while we work and listen to the radio when it gets quiet. Sometimes the noise from the theatre crowd filters back to us in the evenings, but mostly it's just the steady sound of the machines. We focus on making clothes that people can actually use. We don't spend money on big ads or marketing people. We’d rather just let the work speak for itself. It’s an honest way to make a living and it keeps us busy. We like being in this part of town because it feels real. No one is pretending to be something they aren't.
