Moving Star Apparel is located at number 12 on Kangeyam Road. If you know the Rakkiyapalayam area, you know how busy this stretch of road can get with all the trucks and bikes going past. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a good while now. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have so many sewing machines packed in, but we make it work somehow. The noise is pretty constant during the day, just that rhythmic sound of needles hitting fabric over and over. We don’t have a big reception area or fancy chairs for people to sit in. Most folks who come by are just here to drop off fabric or pick up finished bundles to take elsewhere. The crew here is local, mostly people from the surrounding neighborhoods who have been sewing for years. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. By noon, the whole place is buzzing. Sometimes we have tea brought in from the stall down the road, and everyone takes a short break to talk. It’s not a glamorous job, making clothes all day, but it’s what we know how to do. We don’t spend money on big signs or marketing. The name is on the door, and that’s about it. People know us for just getting the garments finished when we say we will. There’s no secret to it, just a lot of work.
