We are Macro Print Engineers, located at 169 in Macro Nagar, Saravanampatty. Despite the long name on the paperwork, we are just a group of people who know a lot about printing machinery. The shop floor is usually covered in bits of paper and drops of ink, along with the usual metal shavings. Saravanampatty is a decent area to work in, though the power cuts can be a real pain sometimes when we're in the middle of a job. We spend most of our time taking apart old presses or trying to figure out why a specific roller isn't turning like it should. It’s a lot of trial and error. We don't have any high-tech offices with glass walls. Our office is just a desk in the corner with a lot of old manuals piled up on it. The phone rings a fair bit, usually someone asking for a part that isn't made anymore. We do our best to find a way around those problems. Sometimes it means we have to make the part ourselves from scratch. It’s slow work and can be pretty tedious, but it’s better than letting a good machine go to waste. We eat our lunch together in the back, usually talking about anything except work for a little while. Then it’s back to the grease and the gears. We’ve been doing this for years, and the routine hasn't changed much, which is fine by us. It's just what we do.
