L.R.Fabrications

L.R.Fabrications sits right on the Malumichampatti Road, near the turn-off for Okkilipalayam. It is a bit of a dusty area with a lot of lorries passing by heading out of the city. We have been working here for a while, mostly dealing with whatever metalwork comes through the door. The shop gets quite bright in the mornings, which helps with the precision work, though the heat starts to bake the roof by midday. We have a few old machines that have been with us since the beginning, and they still run better than some of the newer ones people try to sell us. Our floor is usually covered in filings and small offcuts of steel that we sweep up at the end of every week. It is a straightforward operation. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room; if someone wants to talk to us, they just walk into the shop and find us by the noise of the saws. The local people know the spot well, and we often have regulars coming back when they need something sturdy built. We try to keep things organized, but in a fabrication shop, there is always a bit of a mess. It is just the way it goes when you are cutting and welding all day. We just focus on getting the measurements right and making sure the pieces fit together like they are supposed to. It takes patience and a lot of sweat to get it right.
