Ayisha Garments

Ayisha Garments is our little shop located over in Krishna Nagar, Mangalam. We spend our time working with fabric and thread, mostly making clothes for the folks around here. It started small and it’s still pretty much a straightforward operation. We have several sewing machines set up along the walls, and there is always a pile of scraps on the floor by the time we close up for the night. We don't go in for big advertisements or anything like that. People usually hear about us from their neighbors or just walk in because they saw the sign while passing through Krishna Nagar. Some days we are busy with school uniforms, and other times it is just basic repair work or simple shirts. The light in the workshop is okay during the day, but we had to add some extra lamps for the evening shifts when the sun goes down early. It can get a bit cramped when we have a lot of fabric rolls delivered at once, but we move things around to make space. We know our regulars by name and we know what they usually like. It’s not a fancy boutique with air conditioning and mirrors everywhere. It is just a place where work gets done and clothes get made. We like being part of the Mangalam community and keeping things simple. We just focus on the stitching and making sure the measurements are right before things leave the shop.
