About Kay Ess Engineering Works – Engineering in Coimbatore
Our shop is tucked away at No: A-5/2 in Ramakrishnapuram, and if you aren't looking for it, you might just drive right past. We’ve been operating out of this same space for years, and the walls have seen a lot of metal come and go. It’s a standard engineering setup with the usual grit and noise you’d expect from a place like this. Every morning starts with the same routine of rolling up the heavy metal shutters and letting the light hit the workshop floor. We have our machines lined up along the walls, some of them older than the guys operating them, but they still run just fine if you know how to handle them. The smell of machine oil and iron is thick in the air from the moment we walk in. There’s no air conditioning here, just a couple of big industrial fans that move the hot air around during the summer months. We mostly spend our time bent over workpieces, checking measurements with worn-out calipers. It’s not a glamorous job, and your clothes are going to get stained by the end of the shift, but it’s what we do. Usually, we take our tea breaks standing up near the entrance so we can see what's happening on the street. It’s a busy little pocket of the city, and there’s always someone stopping by to ask if we can fix a broken part or drill some holes. We don't do much in the way of paperwork unless we absolutely have to. Most of the business is done with a nod and a quick note on a scrap of paper.
