About Indrola Steel Rolling Mills India Ltd. – Metals & Minerals in Coimbatore
The mill is located over in Maniyakaranpalayam, which is a bit of a drive if you aren't already from this side of town. We’ve been operating the rolling machines at Indrola Steel for a long while now. It’s loud in there, and there is always heat coming off the lines when we are in the middle of a shift. That’s just the nature of the work we do. Most of the guys working the floor have been with us for years, so we all know the routine and the machines pretty well. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone sitting in a booth to answer the phones with a memorized script. Usually, someone just picks up, wipes the grease off their hands, and gives you the status of the load you're waiting on. We deal with a lot of heavy material at 28 Maniyakaranpalayam, and the yard gets crowded with trucks coming in and out from the Idigarai post office area. We spend most of the day making sure the rollers are set correctly so the steel comes out right. It’s definitely not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. We wear heavy boots and high-vis gear mostly. Sometimes things break down and we have to spend the whole night fixing a motor, but we get it done by morning. The office is just a small room at the front with a couple of old desks and a lot of paperwork piled up on the shelves. We aren't trying to be the biggest mill in India. We just want to keep the machines running and the orders moving.
