Imayam Engineering Works

Our shop, Imayam Engineering Works, is located at 21 Pollachi Main Road. We are right near the Eachanari Rail Way Gate, which means we hear the trains going by all day long. It’s a loud, busy spot with cars and buses zooming past on the main road. The workspace is basically a big garage filled with lathes and welding machines. We usually have a few projects going on at once, so there are bits of metal and shavings all over the floor. It’s a practical place where we fix things or build parts for whoever stops in. The dust from the road sometimes blows in, but we just keep working. We’ve got a small area in the back to sit down, but usually, we are standing by the machines. When the railway gate closes, the traffic piles up right outside our door, and it gets even noisier. We don't mind it much. It’s just how it is working here. Our tools are old but they are kept in good shape because that’s what we use to make a living. We do a lot of manual turning and boring on the lathes, and it takes some patience to get things right. People from around Eachanari know we are here if they need something made of iron or steel. We just open up in the morning, do the work, and close up when it's done. Most of our days are like that.
