Our shop is on Kalyana Sundaram Street, right near where Masakalipalayam Road cuts through. Being so close to Hope College means there is always someone walking past the window, usually students or people heading to work. I spend most of my mornings just moving things around to make space. The shop isn't huge, but we managed to fit everything in. Sometimes the fans don't quite keep the heat away, especially in the afternoons, so we just leave the front door open for a bit of a breeze. It’s mostly just us here at Dress Code, hanging up the clothes and making sure the hangers are all facing the same way, though they never stay like that for long. People come in and look through the racks, and I usually just let them be unless they ask for a different size or something. It’s a lot of folding and re-folding. Masakalipalayam Road can get pretty loud with the buses going by, but you get used to the noise after a few weeks. We’ve got a little desk in the corner where I sit and handle the receipts. It’s a simple setup. There’s a small tea shop a few doors down where I go when things get quiet. Most of the folks around here know us by now. It’s just a normal day-to-day business where we try to keep things organized and get through the stock we have on the shelves. It is okay work for the most part.
