Gouthams Apparel

Gouthams Apparel is based at No. 21 K. R. C. Brindhavan in Devempalayam. We are part of the Palangarai Panchayat in Avinashi. A good way to find us is to go to the back side of the Tea Public School. When the school bell rings, the whole street fills up with kids and parents. Outside of those times, it is a fairly quiet spot. We have a small unit where we do our garment work. It’s mostly sewing machines and cutting tables. The room is usually filled with the sound of needles clicking away. We have piles of fabric everywhere. Different colors and textures stacked up against the walls. We don’t have a showroom or a fancy display. It’s just a place where we make clothes. Most of the people who work here are locals from the village. We know each other well and talk while we work. The windows are usually open to catch a breeze. We have a small area for packing the finished items into bags. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to stop for a bit. We just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. It’s a simple way of living. We aren't a big brand. We just focus on making the pieces one by one. It's a lot of manual work but we like it.
