Gomathy Steels

You’ll find us at 83 Bazaar Street in Ponneri. It’s a narrow street and things can get a bit tight when the delivery trucks try to pull up. We’ve got steel rods and sheets stacked up inside. It’s mostly been the same setup for years. The front of the shop is open to the street so it gets pretty hot in the afternoons. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that do their best. Customers usually walk in from the market area. We know most of the people around here by name since we’ve been on this street for a long time. The floor is concrete and pretty worn down from dragging heavy metal across it. Sometimes we have to move everything out just to find one specific size at the bottom of the pile. It’s manual work and it keeps us busy from morning until we close up for the night. There’s always a lot of dust from the street, and the noise of the bazaar is constant. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing department. If people need steel, they just come by or call the landline. We have a small back room for paperwork, but mostly we are out front. It’s a simple life running a shop in Ponneri. We just keep our heads down and handle the orders as they come in.
