You can find G.J Knit Fashion at No. 54 on J.G. Nagar 1st Street. We’ve been in Kumaranthapuram for a while now. The street is usually busy with people moving back and forth. Our shop is just one of many in this part of town. We spend our hours standing at the tables or sitting behind the machines. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we’re used to it. The rhythm of the needles becomes something you don't even notice after a few years. We don't have a fancy showroom. Everything we make is usually packed into boxes as soon as it's finished. We don't like to let things sit around and get dusty. J.G. Nagar is a place where everyone is working on something. You can hear the sounds of industry from almost every building. We keep our door open most of the time to let the air circulate. Sometimes the neighborhood kids run past and make a lot of noise, but we just keep working. We focus on the thread and the needles. We try to make sure every shirt or piece we make is decent. It’s not art, it’s just work. We’re proud of being part of Kumaranthapuram. It’s a place that knows the value of a hard day's labor. That’s what we do here. Most evenings we just lock up and head home tired. It's a living and we don't complain about it much since it keeps us busy and out of the sun.
