Our shop is tucked away on Dasar Street, right near Nadarajar Goundar Street in Ganapathy. If you’re looking for us, just head toward the post office area and you’ll likely hear the sounds of metal hitting metal before you see the sign. It’s a standard Plot No. 48 setup with high ceilings and plenty of grease on the floor. We spend our days tucked under machines or standing at the lathe, getting our hands dirty with whatever project came in that morning. Most of the guys here have been working with tools since they were kids, so they don’t need much instruction. We don’t have a receptionist or a waiting room with magazines; usually, you just walk in and find whoever isn't holding a welding torch at that moment. The air smells like oil and burnt steel, which is fine by us because it means we’re actually getting stuff done. Sometimes the heat in Ganapathy gets pretty bad, especially in the afternoons, so we take a few more tea breaks then. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just solid engineering work for whoever needs a part fixed or a frame built. It’s a messy, honest way to make a living, and we’ve been at it long enough to know the quirks of every machine we own. Every day is different depending on what broke down in the local factories and shops nearby.
