Fashion Sourcing

You can find us over at No. 15 in the L.R.G. Layout, just off Ist Street near Kongu Main Road. It’s a bit of a maze back here if you aren’t used to the turns. We spend most of our time looking at samples and talking to different suppliers. Sourcing is basically just a lot of phone calls and checking quality. The office is usually covered in swatches of fabric and different buttons. It looks like a mess, but there is a system to it that only we really understand. We don't have a big fancy storefront because we’re mostly busy with the back-end stuff. The street outside is usually busy with trucks and people moving things around. It’s a working neighborhood, not a place for tourists. Sometimes we have to run out to meet someone at a different unit nearby to check a sample. It’s not a desk job where you sit still all day. There’s a lot of walking back and forth. We’ve been in this layout for some time now and seen shops come and go. We just stay focused on finding what the buyers need. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the numbers match up. We eat lunch at the small place around the corner mostly. It’s just regular life here, trying to get the right materials for the right price. Some days are frustrating when things don’t show up, but we keep at it anyway.
