Fashion Dreams

Fashion Dreams is over on School Road. To be exact, it’s 1st Street, No. 447/331 in Thennampalayam. Being near the school means it gets quite noisy when the kids are getting out. We usually take our break around that time. The shop is a bit small, but we make it work. We have all the sewing machines lined up against the wall to save space. Sometimes it’s a bit cramped when we have a lot of fabric coming in. We just stack the rolls in the corner and work around them. Most of the people here live nearby, so we all walk to work. We’ve known each other for years. It’s not like a big office where no one talks. We gossip a bit while we work on the hemlines. The light in the shop isn't the best in the late afternoon, so we try to get the detailed work done while the sun is up. We don't really have a big website or anything. Most people just find us by walking down 1st Street. If you see the piles of threads and the scraps outside, you know you’re at the right place. It's a steady job. We don't expect things to change much. We just want to finish the orders and keep the machines running. It’s a bit dusty in here from all the lint, but we don't mind it. It’s just how it is. That's the way we've done it since we opened up here and it seems to work out okay for everyone involved.
