Castle Clothing Co. is located over at 2/984B, South 5Th Street. If you’re walking around Mahalakshimi Nagar, you might have seen our sign hanging out front. It’s a bit faded from the sun now. We spend most of our time inside working on shirts and trousers. It’s a family-run setup for the most part. We have a few local ladies who come in to help with the finishing work and buttons. The workspace is a bit cramped because we have so many boxes stacked up, but we know where everything is. Usually, the radio is playing in the background while the machines are humming. We don't use any high-tech systems here, just the old reliable machines that have been with us for years. My father started this years ago, and we just kept it going. It’s not a glamorous job, but it pays the bills and keeps the community busy. We have a tea break at four every afternoon, and that's when we discuss the day's progress. Sometimes the thread colors are hard to match exactly, so we spend a lot of time looking through old stock. We try to be careful with every piece because we know people are going to wear them. It’s just honest work. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, just trying to do a decent job every day at our little spot on 5th street. We keep a spare key under the pot by the door.
