You will find us over at 213/1 on Mangammal Salai. We are located in the Talamadai area, near the Sankar Cement Factory. It is a bit of a dusty spot because of all the trucks and the work going on around here, but it is where we belong. Most days start before the sun is even fully up. We hear the heavy vehicles rumbling past our gate all day long. It’s an industrial sort of place, not somewhere you would go for a quiet walk. We have a yard where we keep everything, and it can get a bit messy when the wind picks up. We don't have a big office with air conditioning. Usually, we just sit on the plastic chairs under the shade of the porch. My brother and a few cousins help me run the place. We have known most of our neighbors for years because they are all doing similar work in this area. Sometimes we share tools or help each other out if a truck gets stuck in the soft dirt after a rainstorm. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertisements. People know us because we have been here at this spot for a long time. It’s a lot of physical work, and by the time we lock up in the evening, we are all pretty tired. But it is honest work and it keeps us busy. We just keep our heads down and do what needs doing. We usually eat our lunch together under the big neem tree out back. It provides a bit of shade.
