B. S. Apparel

B. S. Apparel actually operates out of two spots here, No. 20 and No. 52 in the SIDCO industrial area of Mudalipalayam. It’s a bit of a walk back and forth between the two buildings, especially when the sun is out, but we’re used to it by now. We usually keep the heavier work in one unit and the finishing touches in the other. It’s an industrial zone, so it’s not exactly quiet or pretty, but it’s where the work happens. The walls are a bit scuffed from moving boxes around, and the floor always has some thread or lint on it no matter how much we clean. We’ve got a bunch of people working across both units, so there’s always someone running between them with a handful of labels or a roll of cloth. Mudalipalayam is full of places like ours, so we fit right in with the rest of the sheds. We don't have a fancy office for meetings; we usually just talk over the sound of the fans in the work area. Sometimes we have tea together outside when the weather is decent. It’s a practical setup, and it works for us. We just focus on getting the pieces stitched and boxed up so they can get moved out. Every day is pretty much the same—sorting, cutting, sewing, and packing. It’s a bit repetitive, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing the piles of finished goods at the end of the week.
