Working at 641 Kalapati Road puts us right in the thick of things near the Sitra Bus Stop. Because we are so close to the airport, we hear the planes taking off and landing all day long. Arulprakasam Engineering Pvt. Ltd. has been at this location for a while, and we’ve gotten used to the constant hum of traffic and engines. The workshop is where we spend almost all our time. It’s filled with machinery and the smell of metal and oil. We aren't much for fancy decorations; we just keep our tools ready and our machines running. The bus stop nearby brings a lot of foot traffic past our doors, though most people are just heading to the airport or catching a ride into the city. We have a small crew of people who really know their way around an engine or a lathe. Sometimes the work is complicated and takes a lot of patience, but we just stick with it until it’s finished. It can get pretty loud in here when all the equipment is going at once, plus the noise from the street. We usually have tea together in the late afternoon to take a break from the noise. It’s a busy life on Kalapati Road, but we like being right where the action is. We just do our engineering work and try to keep things organized as best as we can in such a crowded space.
