Apparel Global

Apparel Global is located at 37 Sornapuri Avenue 1st Street. We are right in the middle of 15 Velampalayam, which is a place that never really seems to stay quiet for long. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space where we can get the work done. We deal with a lot of garments and textiles, and the floor is usually covered in bits of thread and scraps of paper. It’s a lot of coordination, making sure the people making the clothes and the people buying them are both getting what they need. We spend a lot of time on the phone or typing out emails to vendors. The street outside, Sornapuri Avenue, is narrow, so it’s always a bit of a challenge when the delivery trucks try to turn the corner. We’ve all gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood. The heat can be a bit much in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going at full speed. It’s a regular job with regular people. We don't use fancy titles or have long meetings about strategy. We just look at what needs to be shipped out today and we get to it. Sometimes we have lunch together at the small shop down the road. It’s just how things work for us here in Velampalayam. We aren’t trying to change the world, just trying to do the work that comes our way each morning.
