A P L Knitting

If you head down Piccanpalayam Road to number 116, you’ll see A P L Knitting. We are right in Kumaranandhapuram, not far from Sree Seetaram Stores. The sound of the machines is the first thing you notice when you get close. It’s a rhythmic noise that we’ve all gotten used to over the years. We handle a lot of yarn and fabric here. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread, no matter how much we sweep it. It is a busy place. We aren't a giant factory, just a local spot where people work hard. Most of the staff live nearby, so they walk or bike to work every morning. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. We just make what people ask for. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend an afternoon fixing them. That’s just part of the deal. We take pride in the fact that we can fix our own equipment without calling anyone. The heat can get a bit much in the summer, but we keep the fans going. People know where to find us if they need knitting work done. We’ve been at this address for a long time. It feels like home to most of us now. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The coffee machine is usually broken, though, so we bring our own.
