Annur Annamalaiar Spintex is located right on Kovai Road in Annur. The official number is 3/135-1 in ODP Village. Being on the main road means we see a lot of traffic passing by all day long. This is a spinning mill, so it’s noisy and there is always a bit of cotton in the air. We have shifts running to keep the machines going because that’s the only way a place like this works. Most of the workers live nearby and walk or ride their bikes to the gate every day. It’s a big building, mostly filled with the machinery needed for the spintex process. There’s a small office near the entrance where we keep the records. We don’t have much time for sitting around talking about anything other than the production numbers. The sun hits the roof of the mill pretty hard in the middle of the day, making it warm inside, but we are used to it by now. Annur is a good spot for this kind of work because we are connected to the rest of the Coimbatore region easily. We’ve been at this for a while and the routine doesn't change much from Monday to Saturday. It is just honest work. We make sure the raw materials come in and the finished yarn goes out on time. There aren't any big decorations or corporate logos around, just the name on the gate and the constant sound of the spindles turning.
