Jhoshika Clothings

Our little setup for Jhoshika Clothings is located at No. 2/596-A in Hare Rama Hare Krishna Nagar. We are on 5th Street in Andipalayam, which is a bit of a walk from the main road but easy enough to find if you know the area. The building isn't anything special to look at, but it’s where all the cutting and stitching happens every day. We have a few machines that stay busy most of the time, and the sound of them running becomes a bit like background music after a while. Most of the people working here live close by, so we all know each other’s families and what’s going on in the neighborhood. We handle a lot of different fabrics, and sometimes the floor gets covered in scraps and thread by the end of the afternoon. We clean it up and start over the next morning. It gets quite warm in the summer months, so we keep the fans running at full speed and usually have a jug of cold water sitting near the door. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or marketing because we’d rather just focus on getting the clothes finished and sent out. It’s a practical way to run things. Every now and then, a stray dog wanders in looking for shade, and we just let it rest for a bit. That’s just the kind of place this is, very grounded and regular.
