Sarswati Marble

This is Plot No. H-1-150 out in the Riico Industrial Area in Chenderiya. If you’ve been out this way, you know it’s mostly just big warehouses and lots of dust. We’ve been operating Sarswati Marble from this spot for a long time. It’s a big open plot where we keep all the blocks and slabs. The sound of the saws is basically constant during the day. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a quiet chat. We deal with a lot of marble, mostly local stuff. Workers are always moving things with the crane. It can be a bit dangerous if you aren’t paying attention to where you’re walking. We have a small office near the front gate where we keep the books. Most of our days are spent checking the cuts and making sure the trucks are loaded properly. It’s an industrial area, so there isn't much around in terms of shops or food. We bring our lunch and eat in the shade of the slabs. The ground is covered in slurry and white powder. It’s just how it is in this trade. People come by to pick out pieces for their projects. We tell them to wear boots because it gets muddy when we wash the stones down to show the color. We don't have any flashy displays, just the raw material sitting out in the sun. It's a loud and messy place, but we get the work done.
